T-CAAN is one of Canada’s oldest and most extensive networks of independent advertising, marketing and communication agencies. We used this video handout at a T-CAAN event in Calgary. The mechanism we used was the Extendo. When you pull out the bottom panel, another panel automatically slides out from the top featuring a video about Information Packaging.
Structural Graphics’ design team created this year’s design; a magical winter forest scene that comes to life in a dimensional shadowbox which shines a light on greater forest sustainability. They had the idea to illuminate the shadowbox from below. This was achieved by developing a light display which appears on one’s mobile device, once the QR code on the bottom of the holiday card is scanned. The light show that displays within the shadow box mimics the magical illumination of the aurora borealis.

GLG Communications used the Slider direct mail design as a creative way to wish customers a happy holiday season. This design ships flat, making it cost-effective to mail. When you open it up and pull out the panel on the right hand-side, a die-cut image of a woman runs across the city imagery in the background.

We designed and produced this direct mailer with AdFarm for their client Dow AgroSciences. They chose our Spinner™ direct mail design to promote their Simplicity™ GoDRI herbicide product. The cover of the self-mailer featured an image of a man in the middle of a field. When you open up the mailer, the image spins to reveal a close-up image of an oat plant. This automated design is a popular format as it allows for the customization of the die cut portion that spins while being cost effective for larger volumes.
Best of all, the piece generated 136,000 Facebook Likes. 34% of the coupons were redeemed, compared to the average coupon redemption of 19%!
Telus used our Auto Telescope design to deliver a special introductory offer to prospective customers. The outside of the mailer was designed to mimic a popcorn box which was in-line with the Special Netflix offer. When you pull out the top of the self-mailer, it expands and locks in place to reveal the special offer on one side and popcorn imagery on the other. This design can be used with or without a cover window and is an excellent medium to deliver a perf-off coupon. As another one of our automatable designs, it delivers quick production turnaround and great value on larger volume projects.
Working with Brandfire Marketing Group, their Toyota client used our Spinner design to remind new customers to make a date every 8000 KM’s to bring in their Toyota for a regular maintenance check and for a chance to win several prizes just by doing so. When you open the piece, each of the numbers featured on the cover turn to reveal a different image on the inside. This was a great example of how to marry the message with the mechanism making the design a more powerful piece!
